Table toppers Club AZ carried  on where they left off last weekend  with another goal fest this time at home to Old Alts Youth. Their senior team’s merger with Broadheath Central from  the Cheshire league   has certainly released some talented players to ply their trade  in the  East Cheshire  league and they are determined to take full advantage of their experience  at this level. Old Alts Youth were certainly no match for them as the game was all but over by half time at 4-1 with Andy Masey scoring a consolation  for the visitors.

Paul Bethal led the scoring for AZ with a hat-trick, Omar Lampety and Chris Dicks hit two each with Neil Benny and substitute Rick Mottershead  completing the rout.

Joining AZ at the top of the table are Wilmslow Sports who made it two wins out of two with a comfortable win at home to new boys  High Lane. Surprisingly there was no score at half time but the introduction of right wing David Kendrick  in the second half completely turned the game around . He tormented the visitors defence  scoring one himself  and allowing Trevor Wakeling  to grab a hat-trick and Nick Russell to add number five to take Wilmslow up to second.

Its going to be a long  , long season  for Old Alts as they were hit for nine for the second weekend in a row , this time at home by a dominant Boarhound side. They simply couldn’t cope with the visitors as they stormed into  a  five goal advantage by half time adding four more in a one sided match at Crossford Bridge. Andy Foote scored four, Sean Gill two, with Jamie Collins, Ian Potts and Dan Frost all on target.

While Poynton Kingfisher and Juno United cancelled each other out  in a tight game at Woodford Recreation Ground  quite the opposite was happening in Great Warford as Mary Dendy   entertained  Poynton in a quite extraordinary encounter over seen by referee Gary Smith.

Underestimate a team with wounded pride at your peril. Mary Dendy did as they inexplicably let a 5-2 lead slip to lose 6-5 in the final twenty minutes . Dendy manager Tony White commented “ We began the game thinking this would be a stroll in the park after our form last week and Poynton’s dismal display against AZ, we were wrong , we underestimated Poynton. They  were compact and competitive but we really should have closed the game out  at 5-2. We got complacent , made mistakes and they took advantage- my players have learnt a harsh lesson today”

Simon Gibbons hit a first half hat-trick for Dendy, with Matt  Morris tucking home a penalty as the home side led 4-2 at half time but as Dendy hit self destruct in the second half Poynton took full advantage . Leo Faulkner hit two , John Cairns grabbed a hat-trick making it four for the season and Adam Wild broke Dendy’s hearts with the winner.
