Booze Busters Set To Gain More Territory

Since 2002 the police have had the right to seize booze off people who they feel are causing anti-social behaviour in the town centre. Now, due to an influx in complaints about similar drunken debauchery in the town's parks, the drinking-ban may be spreading to further pastures.
If the ban does go ahead, it will not only be in place in the public parks, but also in the surrounding neighbourhoods, including Westminster Road, Buxton Road, Moss Lane, and more.
The proposal is being discussed at a meeting today, February 12th, at the town centre, and residents within the areas are also being consulted.
The restrictions are seen as an effective way of cutting down alcohol-fuelled problems in the town, and the police are stressing that the ban is only going to be enforced on trouble makers, not the general public.
