Market Day in Macclesfield on Friday 22 August featured an extra stall, giving shoppers a chance to pick up a piece of history.
Staff from Macclesfield Borough Council’s Customer Centre set up a market stall to sell off Council-branded merchandise, with the abolition of MBC in March 2009 after 35 years and the creation of Cheshire East unitary authority.
The goods on sale, all branded with the Council’s logo, included pens, pencils, thimbles, fridge magnets, tea towels, bookmarks and mugs. There were also some limited edition glassware and silk ties.
Jane Farnworth, Customer Centre Manager, said before the event: “Our range of merchandise has always been popular with residents and visitors alike, especially for those wishing to pick up a souvenir from the town. Now we are bringing a variety of products to a market stall and hopefully we will be able to sell off most of the stock. “
