Week Twenty Seven – Dendy consolidate third place.

Mary Dendy  3           Boarhound   1

Mary Dendy guaranteed third spot in the ECL after this hard fought victory in a predictably tight match against fellow Inter-League Cup semi-finalists Boarhound.

The game itself had few chances but was decided in a frantic five minutes either side of half time.  Wayne Shufflebottom triggered the action when he gave the visitors the lead from the penalty spot  but Matty Morris latched onto a precision Nick Brunker pass, minutes later and equalised, notching his twenty fifth goal of the season.

Dendy took the lead straight after the interval when Boarhound keeper Andrew McKellar failed to hold a rasping shot from Gary Burns and Andy Currie flicked in a near post corner on the hour to make it 3-1. Boarhound desparately fought to get back into the game but failed to find the net- Ryan Fitter coming closest with a colossal free kick which rattled the bar.

Boarhound’s season is still very much alive despite this defeat, they are still in two cup semi finals and look favourites to take fourth place in the league.
