People as far North as Newcastle and as far South as London felt the effects of the earthquake, which happened just before 1am in the morning on February 27, 2008.
The quake measured a fairly high 5.2 on the richter scale, with its epicentre being near Market Rasen in Lincolnshire. The effects were evidently felt for miles however, as people all over Britain have reported how they woke from their sleep as their houses shook - for some, the earthquake even caused damage as parts of their homes collapsed.
No doubt their was a nationwide sweep of panic and confusion as people were woken by the shakes.
The quake is the biggest to hit Britain in nearly 25 years. In 2002 the West Midlands was hit in the Dudley area by an earthquake reaching a magnitude of 5.0, and one with a magnitude of 4.3 hit Kent last year.
