A government warning against the closure of rural primary schools has been issued to local authorities, and one of the named schools is St. Johns Primary School in Bollington.
A controversial proposal has been put forward by Cheshire County Council to knock down St. Johns and build a new, larger school on the site of Bollington Cross that will be large enough to accommodate pupils from both schools.
The recent warning will no doubt delight parents, staff and pupils alike, who have been campaigning against the closure under the slogan 'St. John's - A Safe Place to Grow'.
The school achieved higher than the national average in the SAT's and was assessed as being satisfactory or good in all the categories on the recent Ofsted reports.
