League Cup Semi Finals

Club AZ   2     Old Alts Youth  0

Two goals in the last twenty minutes from Neil Benny made sure Club AZ  figure in at least one cup final having lost out in the Macc and District FA Saturday  Cup semi final. In the end it was straight forward  but the experienced  Youth team always posed a threat particularly from set pieces.

Wilmslow  Sports      4     Juno   United        0

Wilmslow could end the season with three trophies  now . They still lead the league, they play Boarhound in the final of the Inter League Cup  at Congleton Town on Wednesday evening  and now they meet Club AZ in the final of the League Cup at Woodley Sports . They were too strong  for Juno United who trailed 3-0 at half time. Tom Gill who got two in the midweek game against Boarhound scored twice and Jonny Devine  was also on target with two.

Boarhound     5      Old Alts   Vets    1

After a titanic struggle in their game against Wilmslow last Wednesday , which they won 3-2 thanks to three indentical  headed goals from corners, the destiny of this seasons league title now rests with Boarhound.
Andy Foote heads the winning goal against Wilmslow

The  equation is simple , if they win their remaining fixtures they will pip Wilmslow on goal difference. The fixture against rivals Old Alts Vets   was not one they relished and so it proved . In a bad tempered game that saw Vets’ Gary Fittes dismissed by referee George Gallimore  for an altercation with  Nathan Hulley, Boarhound eventually proved the stronger. Rory Fallon had given the visitors a first half lead  but two goals in five minutes early in the second half swung the momentum Boarhound’s way. They eventually ran out 5-1 winners with the mercurial  Ryan Fitter grabbing his first goal of the season from the penalty spot . Jamie Collins added two more with Dave Clowes scoring for the third game in a row  and Ryan Stewart completing the scoring.

Poynton    0     High Lane     1

A  goal in the last twenty minutes   by substitute Jake Getchevffsky proved the difference in this tight game at Deva Close.

Mary Dendy    7    Poynton Kings    0

Oh how Dendy wished they’d played like this all season. It wasn’t that they were seven goals better than Kings , it’s just they took advantage of every mistake that the visitors made ..and there were plenty , but they also put away the vast majority of the chances they created  themselves .  Matt Morris , like a phoenix from the flames showed why he has been the ECL ‘s premier marksman over the last few seasons as he plundered five goals ,  Josh Wilkinson was remarkably cool as he latched onto a poor clearance  and nonchalantly rolled the ball past a flabbergasted  goalkeeper . Will Tolley completed the scoring.  It was a great all round team performance with Jamie Gibson outstanding in goal.
