Boarhound had  to come from behind to overcome the challenge of  Tarpoley Victoria Reserves, a team they also knocked of the competition  last season. Steve Lightfoot had given the visitors the lead  in the first half from the penalty spot  and they scored again through Rob Edge to go in at the interval 2-1 ahead. Stern words at half time from Boarhound manager Maurice Sutton  clearly had the desired effect as  Boarhound struck five times without reply in the second half  to wrap up a comfortable victory. Jamie Collins, Craig Hulme and two each from Ian Potts and Andy Foote settled the tie.

Old Alts Youth look the strongest of the three Old Alts teams currently in the ECL and they made it through to  the next round in an absorbing encounter at Crossford Bridge. Trailing 4-3 with minutes remaining  it was  the hosts who were chasing the game  and a Kieron Joyce strike took the game into extra time. Conceding such a late goal left Winnington  totally deflated and it showed as Old Alts Youth quickly built on there advantage scoring twice in quick succession in the first half of extra time to kill off any faint hopes the visitors had of getting back in the game- Steven Trevor hitting  the winner goal . Leading scorer Andy Masey weighed in with two  , James Pickering and Michael Bange also finding the net.

Poynton manager Tom Hardacre , was disappointed  with his sides exit from the cup at the hands  of Lostock Reserves  as he felt his sides performance warranted more. Forced to make five changes form last week Poynton enjoyed the majority of possession through out but were continually frustrated by  a string of fine saves from Lostock’s keeper. John Cairns, Scott Bajic , Stephen Hindle  and Chris Oake all going close. Andy Wiles gave the home side the lead  after ten minutes  but they were punished for two defensive errors and trailed at half time 1-2. Lostock continued to play on the break , soaking up  Poynton’s pressure  and despite  Scott Bajic adding a second the visitors scored three of  their own. On target for Lostock were Ben Harrison  and Jack Bryning with two and Michael Clarne.

Poynton Nomads also went out in a close encounter with last seasons losing finalists , Bentley. Callum Hassall grabbing the winner ten minutes from  time . Earlier in the game Mike Upton had blasted the home side into the lead  only to see  Will Perry equalised  for Nomads. It was tough on Nomads who played well and they must put this defeat to the back of their minds as they face another tough cup tie next weekend against high flying Boarhound.

Curshaws made light work of Old Alts but were full of praise for their opponents who, despite trailing 4-0 at the end of the first half  battled hard and shut out their hosts in the second half. Richard Butler scored twice with further goals coming from Craig Radcliffe and Dan Thornton.

Wilmslow Sports were too much for Sandbach United as they went out four goals to nil. Wilmslow’s new signing  Tom Gill had a fine debut scoring twice with Danny Smith and Jonny Devine also making the scoresheet.

Neil Benney added two more goals to an already  impressive tally for the season to help his side overcome  High Lane in a competitive encounter which saw two red cards  and numerous cautions. The pick of the goals came from full back John Whitehead who fired home from 20 yards in a victory that sees Club AZ leapfrog ahead of Boarhound , back into second spot. Despite the loss  High Lane’s manager Tony Mitchell was full of praise for AZ and singled out paceman Omar Lamptey  as their tormentor in chief.

Juno and Poynton Kings slugged out a 1-1 draw in a tough, hard fought game at Sandringham road. The game itself was all decided in the space of two frantic first half minutes. Tom Hopkin poked home from eight yards to give the visitors the lead but straight from the restart Mark Hughes scampered down the right wing to deliver a perfect cross for Dareen Wilson to head home. Both sides continued to create chances with United keeper Rich Lane making the save of the match from Tom Hopkin.
Mary Dendy's Chris Hadfield battles with Rory Fallon

After five straight defeats Mary Dendy got back to winning ways with a welcome victory against Old Alts Vets who must be wondering how on earth they managed to lose  a game they dominated for long periods , particularly in the first half ,  by three goals.  The answer most certainly lies  in the finishing and I have to say, a slice of good fortune. Mary Dendy took their chances- the Vets didn’t.  Gary Baker, the longest serving player at Mary Dendy rolled back the years with two first half goals. The first a trade mark header from a Jamie Gibson cross , the second   a precision side foot just avoiding the defender sliding in. He had a chance to complete his hat-trick in the second half , Matty Morris relinquishing  his penalty taking duties to give him the chance but his tame effort was easily saved by Aydin Ozman.

An own goal from  the unfortunate Mark Fallon made it three- nil to Dendy  and despite the impressive Rory Fallon deservedly pulling one back , it was stand in skipper Will Tolley who made it 4-1 three minutes into stoppage time.
