The annual search is on to find Silk FM's Local Heroes and Macclesfield Borough Council is backing the 2008 awards by sponsoring the volunteer category.
The Local Hero Awards are now in their 10th year and nominations are being sought in 11 categories.
Council Leader Frank Keegan says: “We’re a proud community leader in a wide range of activities across the Borough of Macclesfield. Volunteers serve on the different councils in the area, support our countryside rangers, and help in our leisure centres. Residents devote thousands of voluntary hours every year to the community in all kinds of different ways. This is a chance for some unsung heroes to really receive the recognition they deserve.”
Nominations for all categories of the Silk FM Local Hero Awards must be made by Friday 10 October and a glittering awards ceremony will take place a week later, on Friday 17 October, at Macclesfield Town Football Club.
Andy Bailey, Silk FM Programme Controller, says: “The voluntary sector is one of those areas where local heroes really are at work and I’m particularly delighted that Macclesfield Borough Council approached us to support the Volunteer category in the 2008 Awards. It demonstrates our partnership which celebrates the success of the area.”
Nomination forms can be downloaded via the Silk FM Website, or picked up from Council customer centres at Macclesfield, Knutsford, Poynton and Wilmslow, Silk FM Reception in Bridge Street, Macclesfield, or from main event sponsor, Carpet Creations, Park Lane, Macclesfield.
