Boarhound rued a host of missed chances as they dominated the game but left with nothing. Nomads had goalkeeper Jack Gaskell to thank as he kept the Boarhound attack at bay, but despite the pressure they led at half time 0-1 thanks to a Rob McDonagh strike. Boarhound’s top scorer last season , Jamie Collins opened his account with an equaliser in the second half but with time running out Dan Dewar set up Tom Gaskell to steal the points for Nomads.
Mary Dendy set their stall out for the season with a crushing victory against Old Alts. Man of the match Simon Gibbons , signed from last seasons treble winners Puss In Boots scored five times on his league debut as he ran the Alts defence ragged. It was a superb all round team performance by Dendy who took the lead after only two minutes when Chris Coppenhall let fly from the edge of the penalty area to make it 1-0.. The lively Chris Hadfield made it 2-0 with a tap in and captain Andy Currie nipped in front of a hesitant Alts goalkeeper to poke the ball home from two yards to make it 3-0. Gibbons made it 4-0 with a well taken near post header and out sprinted Alts defence to make it 5-0 soon after. Five minutes before half time Matty Morris made it 6-0 tapping home after a delightful back heal again from Gibbons.
Alts tried to stem the flow in the second half as Martin Officer took over goalkeeping duties and to an extent it worked but only because Dendy wasted a host of chances . The impressive Simon Gibbons added a second half hat-trick . Duncan Midmore scored an impressive consolation goal for Alts but it was tainted by a sickening collision earlier in the game which left his own player having to leave the pitch with a broken nose.

| Simon Gibbons- five goals on his debut |
Two teams new to the ECL battled it out at Crossford Bridge as Old Alts Youth played Wilmslow Sports . It was the visitors who took the points as Nick Russell bagged a hat-trick. In a close game, goals from Andy Massey for Alts and Russell for Sports made it one a piece at half time but a second half brace from Russell won the game for the visitors . Tom Massey grabbed a second for Alts but it wasn’t quite enough.
Club AZ went one better than Dendy, setting the standard as title contenders as they outclassed Poynton at Deva Close. They were simply too strong , too well organised and too fit as they gave poor Poynton a footballing lesson. Poynton’s consolation goal came from John Cairns with AZ’s goals coming from Lee Manion 3, Neil Benny 2, Rick Heapy, Will Beighton , Chris Dicks and Paul Bethal
