Both Poynton and Bollington councils are in with a chance of collecting a share of £5 million, which is intended to improve the services and facilities in small towns and rural areas.
Both communities are on the shortlist, as well as five other towns in Cheshire, and will participate in a regional study to gather further information.
The initiative is still in its primary stages, but consultants will study each area to see how they could use the cash to improve upon trade, transport and local tourism opportunities
If local authorities in Poynton and Bollington can show what they could do with this opportunity, they may get a healthy slice of the £5 million, which is held by the government’s North West Development Agency.
Money like that could really help these Cheshire towns flourish, so fingers cross they will get their slice of the money-cake and eat it!
