Trees Felled to Stop Floods

Webmaster
Feb 12, 2007

Trees lining a steep canal bank in Bollington pose such a risk of flooding that they are to be removed so that surrounding homes can be protected. The trees, next to the Palmer Street Aquaduct are putting strain on the banks, and if one was to fall there could be a damaging landslip.

Experts have decided that it is not worth the risking of leaving the trees, so they will be removed before nesting season begins so las ittle disruption to the environment is caused as possible.

The work will take 3-4 weeks, and only trees that pose a risk will be felled.
