Crossroads Caring for Carers: Who we are, what we do.

Jul 11, 2008

Crossroads is a registered charity that offers practical specialist care and support to carers and those with care needs. The East Cheshire Crossroads Caring for Carers is part of the Crossroads Association, and has been in the Macclesfield Borough since 1990. Specialist services include:

- Crossroads Macmillan Palliative Care Service

- Young Carers Project

- Take-a-break and Cameo Group Care

- Aspergers Social Skills Group.

The ethos of the charity is to give time and improve the lives of carers in the borough, allowing them to have time to themselves without their caring responsibilities. The service is tailored to each individual carer, and offers support when and where it is needed the most.

In 1974 Crossroads looked after just 28 families. Now it has 140 'branches' across the country, including the Macclesfield scheme.

As well as paid staff, over 6,000,000 help people in need, and to replace these volunteers would cost the goverment £87 billion a year.

Call 01625 511044 for more information on the charity.
