Tories Take The Lead

May 6, 2008

The Tories took the new Cheshire East Authority Election by storm, winning an amazing 30 out of 36 seats in the Macclesfield Borough within the new shadow council, which will be in place from next April.

It wasn't as good a day for Labour, who won no seats, and the Lib Dems only got 6. The Liberal Democrats had to wait as a recount was required within Broken Cross, a popular Lib Dem area.

The Conservatives however, were no doubt extremely pleased with the result.

The Cheshire East Authority Election has 81 seats, and combines Macclesfield, Congleton, Crewe and Nantwich Borough Councils.

Overall, 59 Conservative councillers, 12 Liberal Democrats and 6 Labour councillers returned.
