A Review Of The Trade Mark Collections East Cheshire League

Week Thirty One–. Boarhound thrash sorry Poynton  in the league  whilst in the Subsidiary Cup, Mary Dendy ease past Old Alts Vets into another semi final.

League

Boarhound     10          Poynton   1

If this game had been a boxing match then surely referee Paul Codling would have stopped the contest midway through the second half as Boarhound’s goal tally rose into double figures. They were simply too strong for a tired looking Poynton team who felt the backlash from the hosts who were still smarting from their cup exit last weekend. Boarhound were 3-0 up in the first half before Poynton’s Euan Mckinnon pulled a goal back when he tucked home a penalty for his third goal of the season which gave the visitors a glimmer of hope. This wasn’t to last as the hosts reclaimed their three goal lead  by half time going in 4-1.

The second half was one way traffic as Poynton were hit for another  six . Amongst the goals was substitute Andy Hockenhull who weighed in with two as did Dan Frost, Sean Gill and Wayne Shufflebotham both got one a piece whilst Jamie Collins became the clubs leading scorer  this season as he blasted four.

Boarhound will be full of confidence going into the league cup semi –final against Old Alts Vets on Wednesday whilst Poynton will have to pick themselves up as they face a trip to Bollington Rec to face league champions Puss In Boots.

Subsidiary Cup Group B

Mary Dendy  1   Old Alts  Vets   0

This  scrappy encounter between two of the top three sides in the league was not helped by a blustery wind and a bobbley pitch- it had a distinctly end of season feel about it but perhaps they both had mid week cup semi final encounters on their mind. The turning point and winning goal came on the hour mark as Will Tolley was hauled down in the area and referee Andy Atkinson awarded a penalty which was confidently despatched by Matty Morris – his 28th goal of the season. Dendy now face Club AZ  next weekend in the semi final. Even better news for Dendy was the return to match action  of Rick Tolley who played 45 minutes, his first appearance after breaking his leg ironically against Club AZ earlier in the season.
