Town Centre Drugs Bust

Apr 16, 2008

A huge drugs operation has been operating on Bridge Street, Macclesfield, with detectives uncovering 17,500 cannabis plants spanning across 4 stories of a building.

The operation is most likely one of the largest in the UK, and has shocked local residents who had no idea what was going on right under their noses!

The drug den was revealed after a fire broke out in the building on the 5th April, causing the criminals behind the stash to flee. Initially, 8000 plants were discovered, but after examining the basement that number has more than doubled. The street value for such a huge amount of cannabis could well be millions of pounds.

The building has been completely cleared of the plants, which have been sent off to be destroyed.
