1st October- Round up of Saturday’s games in week six
The old adage that playing at home gives you an advantage certainly doesn’t work in the ECL as the away teams notched up over thirty goals in four games and the home sides managed only four!
Club AZ put last weeks defeat well and truly behind them smashing ten past Poynton Village who are having a miserable start to the season. Jamie Collins led the charge with a first half hat-trick and they scored six more in the second half . New signings Henry Badoo and Paul Chamberlain impressed manager Neil Gibbons as they both scored along with Ryan Stewart and Gareth Gibbons . Collins added two more in the second half to take his final tally for the match to five.
FC Flyers strike force seems unstoppable at the moment as they continue to roll over the strongest sides in the league, this week it was the turn of High Lane who were hit for six ! It wasnt all one way traffic in terms of territory or possession , Flyers just know where the net is and have an uncanny knack of finding it , particularly Scott MacGowan who added three more to his total for the season. Ant Cooke , Danny Cooke and Anthony Hampson completed the scoring . James Williamson and Dave Wilde with a penalty replied for High Lane.
Mike Hooley scored four for Cheadle Hulme as they overran Old Alts East at Crossford Bridge running out 7-1 victors. Mark Alcock with a brace and Jon O’Brien completed the rout.
It was 7-1 to the visitors too at Mary Dendy Fields as Poynton Nomads took advantage of some charitable defending by Paul Cronshaws Mary Dendy team who continue to gift goals to the opposition.

They are still dangerous when attacking though and with Matt Morris upfront they are always worth a few goals. He gave Dendy the lead on seven minutes steering the ball past Jack Gaskell after a fine pass from Gareth Worrall . Anthony Mape equalised almost immediately and Andy Kershaw soon had the visitors infront as he placed the ball low in the bottom corner.
As the drizzle persisted so did Dendy’s errors- Stuart Johnstone nipped into intercept a telegraphed back pass to make it 3-1 and minutes later it was 4-1 , centre half Dan Allman firing home a penalty after Adam Taylor had nudged Alan Hay in the penalty area. Marc Toomey jinked along the dead ball line to somehow fire past Matt Robinson at his near post for number five early in the second half and the goal of the game came after the introduction of Nish Joshi as a substitute. James Bailey scored his first competitive goal in nine years as he volley in Joshi’s inviting cross field pass unmarked and Joshi claimed his second assist as he set up Mark Carter for number seven.
