Just been looking at the above pages and found them full of memories for me. Many thanks.
I am an old Bollingtonian being born there in 1952 and have many happy memories from my childhood. I left there in 1969 to join the RAF and continued to visit regularly until my parents and siblings moved away in 1973 or '4.
This brings me to a small and probably insignificant error in the "A Look At 1973", regarding my mother Winnie Duncan.
The piece I am referring to is about Bollington UDC chairman Mrs Winnie Duncan standing down and moving to the Withal. In fact she moved to Dalton In Furness, Cumbria. The rest is correct.
Sorry if I appear to be picky as I realise the information is from the local press!!!
Incidentally my mother is now 90 years young and living in Gloucestershire.
Another link there is that my first job after leaving school in 1967 was at the Clarence Mill !!
This was quite handy as I was born right beside bridge 27 in Hurst Lane. I could either walk through the woodyard to the mill or go through the opening by Aquaduct Cottage, whistle when I got to work where someone would swing the bridge over for me. Happy days!!
Kind Regards
Andrew Duncan.
We send our thanks and best wishes to Andrew, and of course his young at heart mother
