A student from Macclesfield College has been nominated for a prestigious national award following her volunteer work at a local charity shop.
Emma Nightingale, who is in the 2nd year of the Into Work course at the College, began volunteering on a special needs work experience placement at the YMCA Charity Shop in Congleton last year. Since then, her confidence and self esteem have soared and she is now volunteering for a full day each week, and extra hours during the holidays.
Sandra, Manager of the YMCA shop said that Emma “is a dream to work with” and has changed from a quiet, timid girl into a bubbly young lady.
Emma’s work experience at the YMCA has developed her skills and has now helped her gain a placement at Tesco in Congleton – we wish her every success!
