Congratulations too must go to Oxfford who finished runner’s up and were the only team to inflict defeat on the league champions this season.
FIRST DIVISION
A nail biting final week in the First Division saw a Bollington one –two , Spinners crowned champions and Queens confirmed runners up in a dramatic finale. It created interest from afar a field as Spain where several of the Hollins team were celebrating top scorer John Browning’s imminent nuptuals and were still desperate to find out if they had been overhauled by a Queens win against Nags head.
It has been a remarkable debut season for Queens who have deservedly won promotion to the Premier Division and it was fitting it all finished at Bollington Leisure Centre where they have played so well this season. On the score sheet against Nags Head were Dave Brindle, Stuart Ainsworth with a trade mark thirty yard effort and leading scorer Ryan Foster..
Champions Spinners celebrated with a 4-2 victory on Congleton road against Chester Road Tavern and having secured the title , will be trying to capture more silverware on Thursday evening at Moss Rose, emulating the Lamb Inn by becoming only the second side in recent seasons to win both the First Division and the League Cup in the same season. Dan Hunter led the scoring with a brace with Dave Grindey and Stephen Steele completing the win. For Chester Road goals came from Tegg Westbrook and Rob Swindells.
In ‘El Classico’ at Clarke Lane Chilli Banana poured more misery on arch rivals Sporting Kerridge by beating them 4-1 ensuring bragging rights at least for another season. Graham Boultbee gave Chilli the lead only for Alex Kirk to draw the visitors level before half time but the second half belonged to the home team. Mark Birchenough made it 2-1 with Mike Meszaros adding a third form the penalty spot. Teddy Joseph completed the scoring.
There was a goal fest in Poynton where the home side lost out 5-3 to an inform Tytherington Juniors side who finished their season comfortably in mid table.
Rick Cash scored twice for the home team with a Dan Moult penalty completing their seasons scoring. For Tythy, Nick Hadfield scored twice with Chris Allen, Lewis Peterson and James Moon also on the score sheet.

| Blueberry's Frank Maddox & Jermaine Leveridge about to kick off a remarkable second half against Macc Boys Juniors |
Blueberry and Macc Boys Juniors began their last ninety minutes of the season with a dour first forty five but the game sprang into life in the second half thanks to some great refereeing by Gary Smith. Smith allowed play to continue as a Macc Boys player was clearly fouled on the edge of the penalty area but they still had the ball in a dangerous position. The Blueberry players stopped momentarily and Scott Meszaros took full advantage to slide the ball home. Far from being down hearted Blueberry went straight down the other end and scored themselves , straight from the kick off. Pete Eccles catching the Macc Boys defence half asleep with a ball over the top allowing Alex Rottenbury to race clear and fire the ball into the net. A fine sweeping move minutes later made it 2-1 to Blueberry with Jermaine Leveridge side footing home from three yards. Paul Jones made it 3-1 with a fine shot from the edge of the penalty area but Macc Boys were still very much in the game. Alex Tomlinson wasted a great chance and James Wootten had a goal chalked off before Matt Stoten ensured a nervy final few minutes as he made it 3-2 hoisting the ball over the advancing keeper.
In fact it was Blueberry’s keeper, Lee Smith who saved them on several occasions. Smith was quite outstanding as time and again he thwarted the visitors finally culminating in a fantastic penalty save from Scott Meszaros which would have tied the game and a brave challenge for the rebound.
It was a disappointing end to the season for Macc Boys but for Blueberry manager Ben Atkins who is moving to Holland it proved to be a very fitting farewell indeed.
