ECAT Students Pass with Flying Colours

Apr 12, 2010

Macclesfield College’s European Centre for Aerospace Training (ECAT) has been celebrating the graduation of its first group of students to complete their EASA Part 66 licence.
The graduates are joined by the guest speakers and the Principal of Macclesfield College.

The 5 successful students were invited to attend a presentation evening with guest speakers from Thompson Airways, Monarch Airlines, DHL and Hyde Aero. They were also presented with their graduation certificates and a £50 gift voucher.

The graduates were Mike Wilmot, Tom Mead, Mike Addie, James Harris and Matthew Smith, who were joined by Principal of Macclesfield College Wendy Wright OBE, Head of School Keith Hegarty, Training Manager George Martin and Chair of Governors Ian Standen.

In order to certify an aircraft fit for service, engineers must be in possession of an appropriate licence. Such licences can only be given following formal examinations at an approved European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part 147 centre. With over 50 years experience in providing quality training in aircraft maintenance engineering, ECAT is the only centre of its kind in the North West which is EASA Part 147 approved.

Situated on Macclesfield’s Learning Zone, ECAT provides full and part time aerospace engineering courses for young people and adults, and boasts industry standard facilities including an aircraft hangar containing a fully functional Jetstream 31 commercial aircraft. For more information on our Engineering courses, please contact Macclesfield College on 01625 410002.
