Despite beautiful performances that have made Macclesfield immensely proud of their star performer, Bronte Barbe left the "Over The Rainbow" competition show last night (Sunday 11 April).
The evening before Bronte had given an excellent rendition of K.T. Tunstall's "Suddenly I See".
Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber looked genuinely shocked to hear that Bronte and Lauren were in the bottom two after the public vote. He said that "both of you were in my top 5" (with regard to the part of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz) and "I don't want to lose either of you".
He said that "you will go a long, long way in your careers, I know you will".
Nevertheless he could only save one of them and after the two girls sang "What I did For Love" from "Chorus Line" he chose Lauren saying "I’ve just got to go on tonight and this is the first time, in all the shows that I genuinely can say I don’t know. I’ve got to make a choice and I just feel that perhaps experience counts and I’m going to save Lauren."
He said to Bronte "You are a fantastically talented girl, we must keep in touch".
We all wish Bronte well. You have given amazing performances and have a wonderful future ahead of you.
