Sunday 14TH March
Prestbury Club 1 Pack Horse 3
Pack Horse made it into the semi-finals of the cup after coping better with the blustery conditions at Bonis Hall Lane . Dave Hancox gave them a first half lead with Simon Gibbons adding two more in the second half. Nicky Scott fired home from the penalty spot but Prestbury failed to capitalise on some good chances and paid the ultimate price.
Spinners 0 Cheadle Lions 7
Spinner’s hopes of a semi final spot in their first season back in the MSL came to an abrupt end as they were mauled 7-0 by Cheadle Lions . Spinner’s heads dropped early as they felt they had scored a legitimate goal when the ball appeared to have crossed the line when they trailed 0-1 but referee Ray Rigby said no and Cheadle took full advantage . Andy Simpson and Mike Wilde both scored twice with further goals from Paul Garvey, Tim Bailey and Rick Crawford.
Albion Rovers 4 Oxfford 2
An astonishing change of fortune for Rovers who’d been hit for six only last week by a strong Oxfford side who top the Premier Division table and were last seasons losing semi-finalists. Trailing 1-2 at the break to goals from Dan Frost and Dave Billington Albion took the game by the scruff of the neck scoring three unanswered goals in the second half , two from Dave Barratt and one from Ollie Brazier . It wasn’t all one way traffic though with Albion keeper Gaz Hughes reminding everyone why he’s one of the most consistent keepers in the MSL with a man of the match performance.
Drum and Monkey 2 Valiant 0
Drum put in a workman like performance to despatch the last remaining representatives from the Leek Sunday League Premier Division with a comfortable 2-0 victory . Andy Hurst scoring twice including a penalty in the last five minutes ..
