Boarhound    4      Wilmslow Sports       3

Chris Nevin opened the scoring against Boarhound

An eagerly anticipated match between the two best sides in the ECL last season saw both sides cancel each other out in the first half before the game exploded into life in the second half with seven goals and Wilmslow remarkably taking the lead three times!!.Chris Nevin put the visitors in front  before a  ferocious strike from Simon Gibbons made it 1-1. As the game see-sawed with no team gaining an advantage two goals from Mike Cain , a second from Simon Gibbons and a Ryan Stewart  goal made the score 3-3 but the scoring hadn’t stopped and in the final minutes as Gibbons squared the ball across Wilmslow’s penalty area up popped Nathan Hulley to  gleefully side foot the ball home and ensure Boarhound go back to the top of the league table

Club AZ     1        Old Alts Youth          1

Old Alts Youth gained a valuable point away at Club AZ and it could have been all three. Mike Davies had given them a first half lead but a second half penalty comfortably  despatched by Gareth Gibbons rescued a point for AZ

High Lane   5       Poynton    1

A great win for High Lane but Poynton will have gone away from Disley Sports Club feeling their performance deserved better. They started brightly in both halves but were eventually undone by the pace of Rob Graydon and Jake Getcheffsky who produced a man of the match performance . High Lane led at the break thanks to two goals from Dave Wilde but Poynton fought back early in the second half , Jon Cairns halving the deficit with his first of the season . Jake Getcheffsky restored High Lane ‘s two goal lead with a great strike from outside the penalty area and when   George Mitchell made it 4-1 the game was all but won. Dave Wilde completed his hat-trick with number five  but credit to Poynton they kept pressing , Jon Cairns forcing three smart saves from High Lane’s keeper.

Mary Dendy    1     Inter Macc     2

Dendy’s eight game winning streak came to an end at the hands of a young Inter Macc side who completed the double over their more experienced opponents.
Jermaine Leveridge chases down James Curbishley
Playing some incisive passing football the visitors set their stall out early taking a two goal lead inside fifteen minutes to give Dendy a real up hill struggle. James Slater capitalised on some sloppy defending to make it 1-0 and then Elliot Bruce scored a remarkable second as he saw his speculative cross from the touchline fully forty yards from goal, catch the wind and sail over a bemused Matt Stott in Dendy’s goal and into the net. Martin  Brunker crashed home a thunderous free kick to pull one back for Dendy which crashed in off the underside of the bar but the second half produced little as both sides cancelled each other out .  That said,  Luke Watkin should have made it 2-2 thirty seconds into the second half but his goal bound shot just didn’t have enough pace and was brilliantly cleared of the line and away from danger.

Poynton Nomads     5   Old Alts  ‘A’      0

Player manger Tom Gaskell led from the front as he thumped home a header after only five minutes to give Nomads the lead against Old Alts who like Poynton , played far better than the 5-0 score line suggests. Callum Loftus made it 2-0 before half time but he was forced to leave the pitch in the second half as he picked up a knock. Matt Stoten finally broke the visitors resistance making it 3-0 with twenty minutes to go with Stuart Johnson adding a fourth as Nomads eventually ran out comfortable winners 5-0.

Chris Shepherd wins another header for Mary Dendy
