With the untimely resignation of Brewers from the Premier Division over the festive period and a distinct lack of playing opportunities due to the inclement weather the MSL was back with a vengeance this weekend with a full fixture list , plenty of goals and some great games.
AC Bollan 6 Prestbury Club 1
AC Bollan produced their best display of the season so far smashing six past Prestbury Club at Bolly Rec. James Wheeler , Bollan’s promising young right winger stole the show scoring four times but it was the all round team performance that impressed manager Chris Stacey. Tim Hammond and Andy Davies completed the scoring for the home side which is remarkably only their second league win of the season. Prestbury however will feel they underperformed and will be hoping for better , Stan Williams –Arnold’s goal mere consolation for the men from Bonis Hall Lane.
Pack Horse 4 Vale 1
A crunch game at Mary Dendy Fields saw Pack Horse stretch their lead at the top of the table to three points after a confident display against a decent Vale side, despite falling behind to a Tom Jackson strike in the first half.

Two goals from Simon Gibbons gave Pack a 2-1 lead before Lee Malkin scored a wonder goal taking the ball from inside his own half , carving his way through the Vale defence to finish magnificently. Harry Wheetman added a fourth to secure the points.
Boarhound 2 Oxfford 4
Boarhound will be wondering what went wrong as they let a two goal lead slip to end up on the wrong side of a 4-2 defeat. Dec Fletcher and Craig Hayes had but the home side 2-0 up inside twenty minutes but back came Oxfford and a Dave Billington goal meant they only trailed by a solitary goal at the start of the second half. A tactical substitution at half time saw the introduction of Liam Hadfield in midfield and he proved instrumental in Oxffords’ come back. Lewis Short scored two more for the visitors before Dave Billington rounded off a great second half with his second of the game to take the Oxfford up to second in the table, three points behind the leaders .
Macc Boys Seniors 3 Albion Rovers 4
A bad day at the office for Steve Coppenhall’s Macc Boys Seniors side as defeat meant they sank to the bottom of the division but all credit to them they battled hard against a tough Albion side who were reduced to ten men in the first half. Jamie Collins once again proved his worth to the Albion team as he claimed all four goals for the visitors . For the Seniors, Chris Coppenhall and Chris Hadfield were both on target their third goal coming courtesy of an own goal.

Nags Head 4 Queens 4
A Scott Wright goal with barely a minute to go earned Queens a valuable point in a high scoring game at Congleton Road . The game was delicately poised at half time with six goals in the first half , but the momentum was with Nags who came from behind three times to level the game at 3-3, Anthony Byrne sparking the come back with Rick Davis and Mark Gee getting them back on level terms. Neil Smith put Nags into the lead in the second half but it wasn’t enough as Wright nipped in to equalise. Also on target for Queens were Ryan Foster with two and Phil Hall.
Sporting Kerridge 2 Chilli Banana 7
Chilli eventually ran out easy winners against Sporting in this eagerly awaited derby clash but all credit to Kerridge who really made them battle for every ball.

Missing several key players the home side held Chilli at bay with consummate ease for eighteen minutes until Mike Meszaros unleashed a ferocious drive from wide on the left which flew past keeper Mark Bailey high into the net to break the deadlock. Five minutes later it was 2-0 and Meszaros again with an almost identical goal but this time from the right hand side giving Bailey no chance. added a fourth before half time lifting the ball over the advancing goal keeper into the net. Minutes before the break Rick Lovenbury had a chance for Sporting but his shot was turned agonisingly wide by Nathan Taylor.
Kerridge were much the better side in the opening minutes of the second half with Dave Finlow making it 4-1 to give them a glimmer of hope but a penalty despatched by Mike Meszaros to complete his hat-trick with twenty minutes remaining put the result beyond doubt. Two goals in two minutes from Kieron Shenton and Jack Hoyle made it seven for the visitors which was harsh on Kerridge who did find the net again albeit with an assist from a Chilli defender with twelve minutes remaining.
Spinners 7 Chester Road Tavern 0
An important win for Spinners who are slowly but surely gathering momentum for their assault on the league title . They have currently played four games less than the league leaders and if they win all their games in hand they would top the league by a point in the first season back in the MSL. It’s a big ask but player / manager Jimmy Baskerville has built a strong squad and its certainly not beyond them. Andy Foote was tormentor in chief scoring five times with Dave Lovatt and Dave Grindey completing the rout.
FC Congleton 0 Poynton 3
A well deserved victory in the end for Poynton which ended any realistic chance of Congleton’s slim hopes of contesting for the league title . Leon Eadsforth scored twice and Karl Meredith added a third.
Poynton Legion 0 Tythy Juniors 3
An excellent win for Tythy who have really turned their season around after a shakey start. They were shut out in the first half thanks to a resilient defensive display by Legion for whom Matt Smith and centre half Simon Williams were outstanding, but three second half goals from Lee McIntyre , Lewis Evans and Nick Hadfield secured the points.
Macc Boys Juniors 4 Blueberry 0
A four goal blitz in the first half was enough to see off Blueberry as MBJ got their season back on track. Dave Short scored twice with Neil Woodhall and centre half Aaron Loftus notching his first goal of the season.
Hollins 4 Railway View 1
An important win for Hollins which takes them six points clear at the top of the table but it was their endurance that eventually won the day as they scored four times in the second half having trailed 0-1 at half time to a header from the impressive Ryan Stewart. Rick Tolley, Nick Brunker, Gaz Burns and Matt Beswick were all on target.
