Second year BTEC National Diploma Students supported the council’s Sports Development team in the planning, promoting and running of the event. On the night they also ran hospitality and a sports quiz.
The ceremony was held at Macclesfield Town Hall in front of volunteers from local sports clubs, sports organisations and the Town Mayor. It was an inspirational evening that recognised the hard work of local unsung heroes who give their time, energy and experience for free and make an outstanding contribution to community sports coaching.
Matt Gower, Sport and Public Services lecturer at Macclesfield College, spoke at the ceremony about the role Macclesfield College and the Macclesfield Learning Zone plays in community sport. He commented: ‘It has been an honour to be involved in these awards. The students who helped plan and run the event have been praised for their hard work and the experience will prove invaluable as they study for a unit on Event Organisation.’
