'Back in August we organised the first of the annual Oxfam Macclesfield Ox-trails, a 16 mile walk from Macclesfield to Leek raising money for Oxfam. We set a target of £1700, enough to fund the building of a classroom from the Oxfam Unwrapped range. The good news is that not only did we reach our target of £1700, we are still collecting sponsorship money in and the amount raised so far has exceeded £2000. With this money Oxfam can build a classroom in the third world, stock a library ensuring a whole school gets a first class education, protect women from domestic violence, buy tools for farming making harvesting easier and benefitting a whole community, provide health checkups for people in remote communities and school books in countries where schoolbooks are scarce and build a much needed bog helping to prevent the spread of disease in crisis situations and making schools and communities healthier places. (All these items and many more are available from our Oxfam Unwrapped range of alternative gifts. A new brochure will be out at the beginning of Oct 09).
A big THANK YOU to everyone who walked, and to those who sponsored them. You can still donate... any extra funds left over will go to purchase more text books or training teachers. Get in touch if you'd like to help make our Ox-trail even more successful this year or next. Plans are underway for next year..so..watch out for Oxfam Macclesfield Ox-Trail 2010!!
