Mary Dendy 4 High Lane 2
Two goals in second half stoppage time from Nick Brunker and Matty Morris saw Mary Dendy take all three points and stay top of the ECL after a frantic finale against second place High Lane at Great Warford. The first half was goal less with both sides cancelling each other out but the game came to life on fifty minutes when Dendy substitute Matt Stott fired home from the edge of the area after Matt Morris had unsettled goalkeeper Nick Winstanley.
 |
| Jack Gorrie in action for High Lane |
High Lane deservedly drew level two minutes later when Dave Wilde who was a handful all afternoon, headed home a great cross from Jack Gorrie . Matt Morris kept up his record of scoring in every game as he crashed home a half volley from sixteen yards with ten minutes remaining but again High Lane came back, substitute Tony Graydon, on for Gorrie, in acres of space on the right wing cut inside and took everyone by surprise by unleashing a stunning drive into the top corner. If referee Neil Johnson had blown for time then, 2-2 would have been a fair reflection of play but Dendy are showing a new tenacity this season and when Simon Nicolson swung in a corner a minute into stoppage time Nick Brunker got clear of his marker and headed home the winner at the near post . Two minutes later Dendy added a fourth, Matty Morris reacting first as Nick Winstanley saved brilliantly from Chris Coppenhall but could only push his stinging free kick into the path of the inform Morris who gratefully fired home.
Wilmslow Sports 0 Juno United 2
Juno go second after an impressive win at Upcast Lane against last seasons’s runners up . Wilmslow started the brighter and forced a smart save from debutant goalkeeper Ollie Burr , drafted in from his more familiar role as right back, but it was the visitors who took the lead , Mark Simpson steeling a yard on the Wilmslow defence to lob the ball over the advancing keeper. The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with Wilmslow searching for the equaliser but too often the final ball let them down and for the second time they were hit with a succour punch as Darren Wilson poked home from close range on sixty five minutes after they failed to deal with a long throw.
Poynton Kings 3 Old Alts Youth 0
Old Alts Youth paid the penalty against Poynton Kings as two second half penalties cost them dear. With the first half ending in stalemate, Kings scored three times in the last half hour to take the points .Ali Breed and Matt McCarthy both scored from the spot with Dave Brindle adding a third. Kings go fourth above High Lane on goal difference.
Boarhound 4 Poynton Nomads 2
Boarhound made it two wins out of two after an excellent win against strongly fancied Nomads at Congleton Road. Playing their first game of the season , Nomads got off to a fine start with Mark Toomey giving them the lead after only ten minutes but they were trailing at half time with Ryan Stewart equalising and Wayne Shufflebotham converting a penalty. Dec Fletcher made it 3-1 in the second half to put daylight between the two teams but back came Nomads and Dan Hunter, making a welcome return after a lengthy absence with injury got the visitors back in the game at 3-2. Super sub Simon Gibbons who came off the bench to score the decisive goal last week in Boarhounds’ 4-2 victory against Poynton Kings, did it again though as he hit Boarhound’s fourth to secure all three points for the league champions.
Inter Macc 2 Club AZ 1
 |
| Inter Macc FC |
A bad tempered encounter at Bollington Rec, well marshalled by referee Paul Heathcote saw new boys Inter Macc snatch victory as Club AZ missed from the spot with the last kick of the match. Ray Warburton made it four goals in two starts for Inter as he gave the home side the lead in the first half. Jon Blackburn equalised for the visitors before Danny Wild put Inter back in front with a great strike which despite the dramatic finale , ultimately proved to be the winner and leaves Club AZ languishing at the bottom of the ECL
Old Alts 4 Poynton 3
A welcome victory for Old Alts at Crossford Bridge who managed to hold onto their early advantage which so often deserted them last season . The acquisition of experienced players such as Tony Dawson and Andy Graham from the now defunct Vets side has helped their cause with Graham scoring twice but defensive frailties still showed as despite leading 4-1 they let Poynton back in with a chance conceding twice late on. Chris Bell hit a brace with Kevin Lee adding a third . For Alts , in addition to Andy Grahams’ double there were goals from Jonny McCauley and Kevin Austin.
