Pack Horse remain the side to beat in the MSL after securing their second piece of silverware this season  following their capture of the Premier Division title but they were pushed mighty close by a young Boarhound side who will undoubtedly be pushing for honours again themselves next season.

Packhorse dominated possession straight from the kick off  and  took the game to Boarhound who defended stoutly with captain Rob Parry leading by example but on twenty three minutes  Pack Horse took the lead . Craig Scott who gave  Chris Taylor a torrid time  down the wing all afternoon produced a pin point cross   for Lee Malkin to head home  from five yards. Boarhound had their chances though the best falling to Wayne Riley who was unlucky to see his goalbound shot scrambled off the line.

On forty minutes Pack doubled their lead as Harry Wheatman scored from the spot . Boarhound looked resigned to defeat  in the second half , Pack’s centre halves Andy Forbes and Nick Stone won every ball in the air and they  couldn’t get out of their own half. On sixty three minutes Jono Campbell directed a speculative  header goalwards and in the fading light  Pete Slack  could only help the ball in off the underside of the crossbar. At 3-0  with twenty minutes remaining Pack Horse could have been excused for thinking the cup was theirs  but their complacency nearly cost them dearly . Manager Matt Towns  changed his defence around and Boarhound took full advantage . Boarhound brought on the experienced Andy Shard  upfront and his presence and movement off the ball  paid immediate dividends. Dec Fletcher who’d been anonymous for much of the game  began to find space and cause Pack Horse problems .

With thirteen minutes remaining Andy Shard confirmed his impact as his goal made it 3-1 and with the crowd getting behind  them Boarhound sensed a famous comeback.  Dec Fletcher made it 3-2  with six minutes remaining , his forty ninth goal of the season, as he skipped past goalkeeper Jason Knight to side foot the ball home and Boarhound believed they could get an equaliser to take the match into extra time. Pack Horse are an experienced side though and  held out , keeping possession at every opportunity  until referee Paul Heathcote eventually blew for full time.
