Albion Rovers    3      Unicorn    0 – (29th April )

Albion Rovers are the oldest side in the Macclesfield and District Sunday league having been playing in the league for forty one years . Consistency , dedication and great organisation have kept them going as a club  but two individuals in particular deserve a mention . Steve and Andy Walker are Albion Rovers through and through and Wednesday night saw the culmination of all their hard work and commitment to Sunday League football as they finally managed to capture the First Division title they thoroughly deserve after a magnificent season.
Albion Rovers' Gareth Gibbons

Having been taken right to the wire by Boarhound they secured the points they needed  against Unicorn,  fittingly on their home pitch  at Victoria park. Ian Potts gave the home side the lead on forty one minutes heading home  a Gareth Gibbons cross and it was Gibbons himself who settled the nerves and  secured the win with twenty minutes remaining. Goalkeeper  Gaz Hughes was again on top form to keep a clean sheet  with Gary Rollinson again the unsung hero in midfield.. A third goal and the icing on the cake came three minutes from time when player of the season Jamie Collins gratefully smashed home.
