Macclesfield College Principal, Wendy Wright, visited Buckingham Palace recently to collect her newly awarded OBE from Her Majesty the Queen.
Wendy, who has spent her career in post-16 education, was presented with the title of OBE for services to Further Education. She has been Principal at Macclesfield College since February 2001 and was a key driver in the construction of the College's brand new buildings as part of the Macclesfield Learning Zone.

With its state-of-the-art education and training facilities the College has enjoyed record numbers of enrolments for full-time courses, attracting learners from across Cheshire and beyond. It now boasts an extensive range of courses for young people and adults from entry to degree level, as well as delivering training to meet the skills needs of local employers. Wendy has also been pivotal the College achieving Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ and Beacon College status in recognition of its outstanding teaching, learning and leadership.
Commenting on collecting her OBE, Wendy said: ‘It was a wonderful day. Receiving my OBE from the Queen is something I will never forget. My achievements have only been possible with the support of a fantastic team at Macclesfield College, and I am very proud of everyone.’
