Albion Rovers 2 Hollins 7
Albion’s remarkable record of fifteen consecutive victories came to an abrupt end as they were thoroughly outplayed by a rampant Hollins who showed real belief in their game and made the champions elect look very ordinary indeed.

| Gaz Burns fires in a cross for Hollins |
Hollins showed they meant business from the first whistle , snapping into tackles and pouring forward. John Browning was outstanding down the right and it was his cross that gave top scorer Matt Beswick the chance to open the scoring in the fourth minute with a close range header.. Centre back Roy Rostrum made it 2-0 on thirteen minutes stabbing home a loose ball in the penalty area but Jamie Collins pulled one back for Albion on twenty five minutes with a powerful shot. Two minutes later Hollins restored their two goal cushion ,Matt Beswick with an unstoppable header from 15 yards that left Gaz Hughes in the Albion goal rooted to the spot.
Albion had come from 0-2 down against Boarhound three weeks earlier but Hollins third seemed to completely subdue them. Four minutes before half time Will Tolley nodded home number four and deep into first half stoppage time Ali Heathcote secured the points with a low shot into the corner of the net to make it 5-1.
Albion were shell shocked but after a half time rollicking came out with more purpose, Gareth Gibbons firing home from a tight angle on 52 minutes but barely a minute later Hollins scored again, the ball rebounding off full back Michael Gibbon’s chest and into the net.

| Michael Gibbons and John Browning |
Hollins were rampant now, pouring forward with Gaz Burns causing no end of problems down the left and Jamie Beech marshalling the play in the middle of the park. Albion were flat, Jamie Collins had little change from Will Tolley and Gareth Gibbons saw virtually no ball but Hollins worked hard and constantly looked dangerous. Gaz Burns made it 7-2 with an unstoppable shot with twenty minutes remaining and to be fair to the visitors it was no more than they deserved.
For Rovers , the title now looks far from a nailed on certainty, but their remarkanble achievement of winning fifteen games on the bounce is certainly worthy of praise at any level. This game however is one they might well choose to forget!!
Boarhound 9 Tytherington Juniors 1
Tythy were given a lesson in finishing by the First Division’s top scorers as Boarhound went goal crazy. It has to be said, Tythy aren’t a bad side as they proved against Albion a couple of weeks ago but against Boarhound and in particular the speed and guile of Dec Fletcher they were outclassed. Fletcher hit five goals, the third time he has hit five in a game this campaign and now has 44 goals in all competitons, a remarkable feat for his first season in Sunday league. Also on the score sheet for Boarhound were Rick Nelson, Ben Hamand, Craig Hulme and Craig Hayes. David Scott got a second half consolation for the visitors.
Chain & Gate 0 Poynton 10
Poynton put Chain to the sword in a one sided game at Bollington Cross. Chain lost two players to injury and conceded eight times in the first half and had little to play for in the second half except to regain a little pride- they didn’t and Poynton scored twice more. Leo Faulkner and Lee Stubbs both scored hat-tricks with Bobby Cash scoring twice and Karl Meredith and Andy Buckley also on target.
Macc Boys Juniors 1 Baths 1
Baths were left disappointed as they let three points slip by conceding an eighty nineth minute equaliser to Chris Smallman of Macc Boys. The first half was goalless but with twenty minutes remaining Dennis France gave the visitors the lead . Victory would have seen Baths keep in contact with Hollins in third place but they now drop to fourth. MBJ keep improving and have shown plenty of promise at times this season. With the addition of a few players they could really challenge for honours next season.
