Premier Division
AC Bollan 4 Railway View 3
After a thrilling 3-3 draw last week AC Bollan and Railway View conjured up yet another goal fest this time at Bollington Recreation Ground. Despite plenty of chances for both sides the first half surprisingly ended 1-1 but in the second half the floodgates opened . Les Sykes scored a remarkable goal from just inside his own half to give Bollan the lead but back came Railway to lead 3-2 with ten minutes remaining. Stuart Ainsworth scoring twice, once from the penalty spot and Chris Coxan adding a third. John Williams levelled the match at 3—3 before Tim Hammond notched his nineteenth goal of the season in all competitions to give Bollan all three points.
Oxfford 4 Brewers 5
Another super game served up Oxfford and Brewers which Brewers edged by the odd goal in nine to leapfrog Three Crowns to the top of the table. In blustery conditions at Congleton Road , Oxfford stormed into a 3-1 lead and lead 3-2 at half time but the second half offered the visitors the wind in their favour and they took full advantage scoring three times but crucially only conceded once. Carl McCurrie hit a hat-trick for the home side making it nine in the league this season and Jordan Lee added a fourth . For Brewers, Ashley Flood and Jamie Madden both scored twice with Martin Firth grabbing his tenth of the season.
Pack Horse 6 Three Crowns 1
These two sides were evenly when they met last week at Victoria Park but this weekend belonged entirely to the Pack. Striker Harry Wheatman , not available for the previous encounter made the difference scoring four times with Craig Scott and Martin Quigley also on target for the current league champions who remain in fourth place but only three points behind Brewers with two games in hand . Three Crowns drop to third.
Vale 2 Macc Boys Seniors 6
Vale will be glad they don’t have to face MBS again in a hurry. In two games they have conceded eleven goals and scored just two. On a cold wet morning at Back Lane the visitors got off to a flyer Eddie Roberts scoring barely a minute after the start. Chris Coppenhall made it two with his sixth league goal of the season before a spectacular effort from outside the box got Vale back in the game. Simon Gibbons scored twice in the second half as did Eddie Roberts who completed his hat-trick taking his total for the season to thirteen. Vale did pull a goal back but they simply ran of steam.
First Division
Albion Rovers 4 Boarhound 3
The two best teams in the division met at Victoria Park in an eagerly anticipated encounter which was billed as the potential championship decider It certainly lived up to expectations it was a thrilling game which despite the conditions attracted a number of spectators none of whom would have left disappointed .
The football was flowing, the commitment unquestionable and the goals particularly Andy Shard’s opener for Boarhound absolutely top drawer!! Two goals in two first half minutes just before the half hour mark stunned the league leaders as they trailed 2-0 . The warning signs were there though. Only minutes before scoring the first goal Andy Shard had tried a similar turn and shot from twenty five yards which crashed against the bar with goalkeeper Gaz Hughes beaten. The second time he tried the same trick again ..this time it worked and he was mobbed by his delighted team mates. Decland Fletcher broke clear to roll the ball into an empty net barely a minute later , his thirty sixth goal of the season.
The second half was a different encounter altogether . Boarhound sat back and let Albion back in the came . Gareth Gibbons was hauled down four minutes in and he got up and confidently despatched the penalty himself to make it 2-1 . Craig Hayes restored the two goal lead but barely a minute later referee Neil Johnson awarded Rovers a second penalty as Gibbons was again brought down in the penalty area.. Upstepped Gibbons again but his spot kick was well saved and the ball broke loose ,Jamie Collins was first to react making it 28 league goals this season, 32 in all competitions . Neil Smith smashed home the equaliser from close range before Gareth Gibbons hit a fourth with fifteen minutes remaining. Rovers were delighted , Boarhound distraught . Steve Walker’s team surely now have one hand on the First Division title after making it thirteen wins from thirteen in the league this season and on this display , Boarhound will join them in the Premier Division next season.
Baths 6 Macc Tigers 1
Macc Tigers must have wished this game could have ended at half time when they only trailed 1-0 as the second half proved one way traffic as Baths scored five times. Lewis Peterson claimed his fourth goal of the season for the Tigers whilst for Baths, Dan Needham and Craig Poyser both scored twice with Anthony Byrne and Rob Ainsworth also on target.
Hollins 5 Sporting Kerridge 2
Hollins consolidated fourth place with a comfortable victory against Sporting Kerridge at Mary Dendy Fields. In an even first half the scores finished level at 1-1 but in the second half Hollins took charge . Matt Beswick scored twice and there were further goals from Gareth Burns , John Browning and Roy Rostrum. For Sporting the goals came from Simon Williams and Luke Williams.
Tytherington Juniors 5 Chain & Gate.
Tythy Juniors got past the disappointment of losing to Boarhound with a morale boosting victory against Chain and Gate. Ryan Walker and James Moon both scored twice with a fifth goal coming from David Scott.
