Wilmslow Sports   5           Poynton Nomads  1

Wilmslow Sports extended their lead at the top of the ECL after a resounding victory against rivals Poynton Nomads at Upcast Lane. The game as a contest was over after barely two minutes as first Tom Gill  scored and then Martin Shardlow let fly from from fully thirty yards to thunder an unstoppable shot into the top corner . 2-0 game over…Wilmslow were simply too strong for Nomads who had no complaints with the result or indeed their own performance.

Further goals from the free scoring Tom Gill, Nick Russell and Jonny Devine made it 5-0 before Stewart Johnson grabbed a consolation five minutes from time.

Old Alts Vets      6     Old Alts     0

At last the Vets won having taken the majority of their chances . So often this season they have dominated games but gone home with nothing – this time was different. In this keenly contested local derby they started the game  with two new signings in goalkeeper Mike Bishop and striker Ike Ekwume. They made all the difference, manager Dave Stephens admitted it was the first specialist keeper they’d had all season and for him to keep a clean sheet was great   but the five goals scored by the other debutant  Ekwume were a bonus and unfortunately it was Old Alts who suffered the consequences.
