Club AZ took full advantage of a host of postponements  to move within a point of Wilmslow Sports  at the top of the East Cheshire league with a comfortable victory against Mary Dendy.  The match was played in an excellent spirit in heavy conditions with both teams trying to stay on their feet rather than go to ground but it was the visitors who controlled the game from the first whistle . Twice in the opening quarter Dendy had goalkeeper Stuart Davies and the woodwork to thank as
AZ's Harry Wheatman and referee Brian Clark

Harry Wheatman and Rick Mottershead  both went close but a fine rear guard effort meant it was  0-0  at the turn round.

The second half  ultimately saw the goals AZ’s pressure deserved ,the pick of which saw Harry Wheatman delightfully chip Davies to make it 2-0 but with Dendy forced to make changes with Martin Brunker and Chris Coppenhall both going off injured it was always going to be an uphill battle . Player manager Paul Cronshaw and debutant Matt Stott did their best to stem the flow when they came on  but when Matt Finnerty crashed home number three on 72 minutes the points were secured. Rick Mottershead’s second goal of the season had given AZ the lead ten minutes into the second half.
