With last seasons champions Boarhound no longer playing in the ECL their two closest rivals from last season Club AZ and High Lane met at the Mulberry Centre. In recent times games between these two teams have been tight but with plenty of goals- This was no exception. It ended in an emphatic 6-1 victory for Club AZ and they will certainly be the team to beat this season . Jon Blackburn and new signing Nathan Hulley gave the home side a 2-0 half time lead but Gary Watt got the visitors a goal back five minutes into the second half. Their comeback didn’t last long as AZ scored straight from the restaret, Gareth Gibbons getting his first of the season. John Whitehead made it 4-1 before substitute Lew Peterson came on with twenty minutes remaining and helped himself to a brace.
League Cup runners up Cheadle Hulme got off to a flying start to the season defeating Poynton Village 4-1 in Davenport. Man of the match Rob Duignan scored a first half brace before Dan Marshall pulled one back in the second half for the visitors. Scott Bradley and Leon Tailor added two more in a comfortable victory.
An entertaining game at Crossford Bridge saw Old Alts A come from 2-1 down with a minute of normal time remaining to take the game 3-2 and secure all three points against Mary Dendy .

| Old Alts A's Dave Howard under pressure from Mary Dendy's Gareth Worrall |
It was an even first half hour before David Howard set up Dale Peters for the opener but Dendy game back strongly and should have equalised five minutes later when Neil Hodgkinson got on the end of a James Monaghan freekick but could only direct his effort straight into Alts keeper Ash Walkers arms from point blank range. Matt Morris did find the net on 37 minutes taking a ball from Martin Brunker he jinked his way into the penalty area before calmly dummying the goalkeeper to leave him stranded on the ground and rolling the ball into an unguarded net.
Alts started the second half with real purpose and both Dale Peters and David Howard will both feel they should have done better with early chances but it was Dendy who took the lead Nick Brunker fooling everyone as he shaped to cross the ball at the near post and proceeded to slide the ball between keeper Ash Walker’s legs and into the net.
Spurred on by the impressive Dean Duigan Alts had a chance to get back in the game barely five minutes later as referee Mike Clulow adjuded Dendy centre half Ryan Fallon had handled the ball on the line in an attempt to keep the ball out and awarded a penalty kick. Duigan took responsibility himself but sent a tame effort low to the goalkeepers left and Matt Robinson saved well.
James Curbishley, Paul Cronshaw and Josh Wilkinson all wasted good chances to extend Dendy’s lead despite most of the pressure coming from the home side but with a minute remaining of normal time Dean Duigan redeemed himself from his earlier penalty miss with a thundering header at the far post from Sailesh Vara’s corner to equalise. With their tails up Alts continued to press and it came as now real surprise when they scored again .

| Dale Peters scored two goals for Old Alts A |
In the 7th minute of stoppage time Dale Peters stooped low to nod home the winner from Jordan Jackson’s cross.
At Bollington Rec all the action came in the second half as the first half drew a blank between Poynton Nomads and Old Alts Youth. Nomads secured the points 3-2 thanks to second half goals from Jake Lodge , Will Benn with a fabulous free kick and Nish Joshi who combined with fellow substitute Andy Kershaw to score a third. Lee Ravell and Nathan French were on the score sheet for the visitors.
