Local Primary School Bring A Smile Of Hope
By webmaster on Jul 15, 2016
An innovative academy programme designed to offer schoolchildren opportunities to get a taste of real-life experiences outside the classroom has had a positive effect in the local community.
Youngsters from Pott Shrigley Church School and Bollington St John’s Primary School visited Hope Green Care Home on London Road, Adlington, over several weeks.
Their regular weekly visits included taking part in collective worship and craft sessions as well as listening and chatting to residents.
“The children don’t realise how much of a difference their visits make to brighten up the day for our residents,” said Hope Green care manager Jenny Biggar.
“Their enthusiasm and connection with the residents, some of whom are nearly 100 years old, is testament to the sensitivity and compassion of these young children.”
The Federation of Pott Shrigley and Bollington St Johns organise a month of activities which enable the children to experience vocational and sporting opportunities within the local community, such as visiting the local fire station or attending gym sessions.
